Couple shot for Floor Care Post

GarageTek’s ProTek Floor Coatings are designed for long-term floor protection resistant to wear and dirt penetration.  These floors can be generally maintained with a routine program similar to any good housekeeping procedures.  Following these simple steps will prevent early deterioration of your GarageTek garage floor coating.

Wiping Up Spills

Promptly remove grease, chemical and other petroleum-based product spills to avoid discoloration and damage to the flooring.

Sweep and Mop Occasionally

Routine sweeping and mopping will prevent damage to the finish from the grinding effect of minute abrasive particles common to high traffic and work areas. Mopping should only be done with a clean polyester mop using water and a neutral detergent or soap at the recommended dosing.  Water should be changed frequently and mops rinsed often.  Thoroughly rinse off all cleaner with clear water.

Make Problem Areas Disappear

  • Grease:  A biodegradable solvent will easily remove grease from the floor surface to ensure there are no slips and falls.
  • Tire Marks:  Scrub thoroughly with a stiff bristle brush using one of the cleaning products mentioned above.
  • Stubborn Dirt or Stains:  Cover the stains with the cleanser and allow to sit for about 20 minutes.  Then scrub the area using a long-handled brush and rinse well.

Hose Down Seasonally

Start at the back of the garage and rinse toward the driveway or street.  Let the garage floor air dry.

Waxing and Polishing

This flooring system need not be waxed or polished if the steps above are followed.

Suggested Cleaning Products

  • Zep, Citrus-Based Cleaner
  • Dawn, Dish Detergent

Do not use petroleum-based products as they will reduce the shiny finish of the floor over time.
