If an emergency happens, be prepared with the following items:
Preparedness
- Keep a first aid kit in the garage area. Maintain it properly. First aid may make the difference between quick recovery and permanent injury.
- Install an alarm on the door that leads from house to garage that signals if a child enters the area.
- Mount a fire extinguisher in the garage area. Adults in the home should be trained on how to use it.
- Develop a fire escape plan and conduct drills twice annually with all family members.
- Install a working smoke alarm in the garage. Test upon installation and every three months.
