Millions of us make — and sometimes break — New Year resolutions.  According to a recent study, many of us have good intentions toward the garage.  In fact, the garage is the #1 room in the home that consumers plan to organize in 2007.   The solutions are numerous, so why are so many garages such a disaster.

  2. Lose weight/get in shape
  3. Get garage organized

  • Create Zones:  As with any room design think about the uses of this space and create "organization zones" where you are most likely to use them.  For instance, create a "lawn & garden zone near the door to the driveway or backyard so you can grab and go.  A "household storage zone" near the door to the home let's you unload the bulk supplies right into the garage cabinet until you them.  Zones give you organization, convenience and access.  
  • Use Product Combinations:  Every good storage solution uses a combination of work surfaces, cabinets, shelves, and brackets.  Consider what you need to store in each zone and then mix and match the solutions for that precise area.  
  • Plan to be Flexible:  Be sure to organize your garage with a system that changes with your changing needs.  The ability to move your zones and the products within each is critical for a system that will allow you to keep the garage clean for years to come.
